My love of all things mechanical. I have never been an academic but give me some leavers and cogs and I’ll nut my way through the process on how it all comes together and works. My hobby is race cars I have one and have had others in the past. This addiction started when at 5ish watching my uncle Ian race cars, and he had some good cars, all now historically valuable. Dreaming as a kid of racing cars, or out in the car shed pretending to race dad’s car doing hundreds of laps in the garage making car noises!

In my adult life I get as much enjoyment out of designing something in my head, making it and trying to get it to work on my cars as I do to race it. Few things have failed, the only thing at the end of the day that fails is my wallet.  When the wallet says no more for a while, I’ll go to the track or show and marvel at the engineering on old and new cars, motorbikes, engines, etc – if it goes up and down, round and round I am amused for hours.

Also, it is all the neat people one meets that come from all walks of life, some of their stories are truly a book on their own. There are people in Taranaki that have skills and knowledge most wouldn’t know about just going about their day. So, next time you are waiting in an aisle at your local store the person next to you may have a talent that only his family and mates know about … never judge or assume anything about anyone as everyone has something  special to offer.
